Rollin', rollin', rollin'

I'm getting bigger and bigger everyday.
Now I can sit by myself for a very long time.
(Mommy has to sit me up though).

And I've been working on rolling from my back to my tummy for several weeks.
Mommy is not sure why, since I hate being on my tummy.
But it didn't matter because I couldn't figure out what to do with my arms.
Then, . . .

Yesterday, I did it!!!
I also discovered a new sound.
I love it, but mommy says it is horrible and whiny.
She says she's not going to listen to 18 years of that!
Silly mommy, she thinks I'm going to quit whining when I'm 18!

Baby pattern baldness

It's no secret that I've lost a lot of my hair since I was born.
I'm happy to say that it's starting to grow back in!
It's not as dark as it was, but it is still brown.

I had a fringe on the back of my head that hadn't fallen out.
Mommy and daddy decided they wanted to keep it.

My new fringe-free head.
Now if only hair would cover that bald spot.

Letter from mommy

I hear you crying and stumble out of bed. I put on my pajama bottoms and socks and a robe. I come into your room and see your little arms and legs pumping wildly, as if that would help me hear you. Even in the dark, I can see your smile when I pick you up.

I sit in the rocker and you quickly find what you're looking for. You curl your little body around mine. During the day, you're my big girl, but at night, you're still my tiny baby. You rest your plump little hand on my chest. I run my finger over it and marvel at how something so tiny can also be so chubby. I rub your fuzzy little head which is starting to sprout hair again. I grasp your chunky little legs and make sure they are warm.

Sometimes there is thunder.
Sometimes there is rain.
Sometimes there are even birds singing.
But usually, it is silent.

You detach and we switch sides. I'm amazed at how beautiful you are in the dark. When you are through eating, you stretch out and then rest your round cheek on my breast as you prepare to go back to sleep. I bring you up to my shoulder, where your fluffy, soft cheek rests against mine. I put my hand on the back of your tiny, silky head and I just cuddle you. I kiss your cheek and lay you down. You give me a sigh and a half smile, close your eyes, turn your head and go back to sleep.

I stumble back to bed, to sleep. But, this is my favorite time, when you and I are the only people in the world.

Feel the burn

Mama says exercise is very important to keep us healthy.
So every day I do my exercises.
Leg lifts: check!

Push-ups: check!

Toe touches: check!
(Mama says she can't do this!
She's out of shape!)

Things I put in my mouth

Because I'm a baby, it makes me happy to put things in my mouth!
Everything and everyone goes in my mouth.

You may not want to have tea with me!

My toes taste as yummy as mommy said they did!

Five Months

I am five months old today!
I am a happy baby!
I have discovered my thumbs.
Sometimes I put both of them in my mouth at the same time!

I love being silly.
Look, I am Santa Claus!
I don't mind tummy time as much anymore,
because I just roll over.

I am very smart.
I dropped this whisk between my legs several times.
I couldn't reach it with my hands,
so I just moved my little legs until I could reach it!

I am trying new foods.
I'm still not sure if I like avocado or not.
I also drink water from a sippy cup,
almost all by myself.
I am getting big!!!

Signs of spring

After a long, cold winter, spring is finally here.
We went to the Botanical Gardens.
I got to see a lot of new stuff.

Mommy wouldn't let me eat the giant petals.
They sure smelled good, so I thought they would taste good too!

Little gardener

The weather has finally gotten warm!
(sorry Nana and Grandpa, I guess you'll just have to come back now!)
So it's time to garden!
But first, we have to prepare.
Hat, to protect skin: check!
Sunglasses, to protect eyes: check!
Rake, to rake dirt: check!
Let's get out there!

I'll take that to go

Daddy has been pushing mommy to let me eat cereal.
Mommy didn't want me to eat cereal.
She likes feeding me at night, because that's our cuddle time.
But, lately, I've been more interested in food,
and, she's tired of getting up twice a night to feed me.
So, we tried cereal.
You can't really tell from this picture,
but I'm wearing a lot of cereal!
It was pretty good!
We had it again last night,
but mommy bought me a bib the size of my torso!
And I did better eating it.
But, mommy still had to get up twice.
The cereal gives me gas!
